I mean, if they’re looking on browser they could use the actual curated archive that has been put together and organized as well. Like…
…this has existed for quite some time, but people viewing on the app don’t get that juicy browser goodness. This just got updated recently. I’m ass at keeping it updated, but like…it sure as hell beats every other option.
Just hit the audios tab on the main page and you’re there. The /archive thing works too but I feel like utilizing the webpage functions of the blog works way better.
Disability benefits should be the equivalent of a full time job on living wage. Things don’t cost less because you’re disabled – in fact you often have additional costs of living. You shouldn’t be forced into poverty because you are disabled.
Before anyone comes in with ’ but then ppl would lie so they didn’t have to work!’
Two responses
Universal basic income + better wages is the way forward
Who fucking cares? Not me. This insistence that ppl lie to get benefits and as a result benefits should be a fucking pittance that it’s humiliating to apply for just fucks over disabled people and is inhumane
Added to this:
No retesting of permanent disabilities.
It is huge stress for people with autism or lost limbs or so forth to be retested, especially when they’re often denied – every two years or less – their benefits and forced to appeal and then get back what they originally had (or less) … it’s weeks without income, which has sent many people homeless or forced them into short-term loans and debt they can’t escape. It’s barbaric.
Also, payments made during appeal – if they don’t deserve the cash, they can repay over time, but if they do then you’ve stopped them from going into debt and/or being made homeless. The whole system needs a huge overhaul, especially with the assessors being paid per person chucked off the system.
It’s absolutely dehumanising to say the least.
And no more marriage/cohabitation policies so that people whose only source of income is those benefits can use them to contribute to a partnership instead of having them yanked away on the grounds that “your spouse can support you now.”
Raise the word of the barbaric ways we disabled people get treated.
And people wonder why we have even less ability to get away from our abusive caretakers and have more of a fear of being abandoned on the street and left to die than able-bodied people do…
Especially us chronically sick ones who won’t EVER stop being sick. -_-
Domestic violence towards disabled people is really one of the highest yet it remains unproven and in silence because it’s hard to leave an abuser if your whole income and life depends on them, added to having lots of medical fees and needs, middle to none physical independence and nowhere else to go.
You hardly will bite the hand who feeds you if you’ll starve anywhere else.
heres the realest shit ever: literally no one is going to pressure you to do drugs in high school
literally no one
an encounter i had in 10th grade in a bathroom
person: hey we’re about to smoke some pot do you want some?
me: nah i got a test in like 20 minutes i just have to pee
person: alright good luck
actual highschool party I’ve been to
person: I brought beer!
people: aaaaaaa yyyyeeeaaahhh
person: want some?!?!
Me: no I don’t drink
person: GOOD MORE FOR US HERE’S SOME SODA
On the bus: Dude: Do you want a cigarette? Me: Dude I’m asthmatic. I’d die. Dude: Okay, cool, cool.
6th period math:
friend: hey, you want a weed brownie?
me: nah I’m good.
friend: cool.
Lunch
Some girl: You guys wanna smoke weed in the stairwell??
Us: not really
Girl: Okay friends, if you want any later my name’s Zoey, i always sit here
Guy: do you want a cigarette?
Me: I don’t smoke
Guy: good, don’t start
(that happened on multiple occasions with different people)
Seriously I was pressured into reading the Twilight books 1000x more than any drugs or alcohol
The last one
Adults would rather believe drugs are caused by peer pressuring teens rather than horrible situations developing kids are put into that drive them to seek out any sort of relief they can find. They don’t want to believe that they themselves are driving kids to do drugs.
Want teens to do less drugs? Provide accessible and cheap (or free) mental health support, get kids out of abusive situations, and use education rather than fear mongering when trying to deter teens.
This is more of a personal opinion, but I think legalizing weed would significantly reduce the use of harder, more dangerous drugs.
Civil rights violations in the US today doesn’t look like the bad cops on TV, it more often looks like the good cops on TV
How many times in your favorote cop show have they kicked in a door and searched a home without a warrant?
How many times in your favorite cop show have they questioned a suspect without their lawyer present and after the suspect has clearly stated they don’t want to talk?
Special question to fans of Criminal Minds: how many times have the BAU purposefully taunted the unsub in a standoff to the point that they become agressive and the agents then shoot the unsub?
By the way, to be clear on the door kicking thing, I am very specifically talking about the following line I’ve seen countless times:
”Hey, did you hear screams/smell drugs inside?”
And like it’s always shown as a flimsy excuse, yet, still the right and good thing to do
The one where they make the suspect talk without a lawyer is so common it’s actually ridiculous.
Or the one where they get mad at a perp for having a shitty attitude/mocking them and end up losing their temper and using unnecessary force is always framed like the police had no other choice. Because the perp insulted their wife or dead colleague so obviously they deserve some brutality
also when the cops maybe don’t do anything wrong, but the show frames it as “if only we could violate human rights a LITTLE, then we could solve the case!” or even that the law is preventing them from doing their job. e.g. the stodgy old judge won’t give them a search warrant, the arrogant psychiatrist won’t hand over their patient’s information, the team has to do things by the book this time(!) because the FBI/internal affairs/the media are watching them.
the number of times the police stalk someone because they’re “sure” they’re the culprit, even when they have no evidence and their captain tells them not to, but it’s justified in the end because they wee right of course, looking at you SVU.
And don’t forget, lawyers are always skeezy amoral sleazeballs who are obstructing justice by, you know, protecting their client. You know, their goddamn job? Carrying out the Sixth Amendment?
NCIS glorifies violation of civil liberties constantly
Some guy just mansplained space to an actual fucking astronaut.
tfw correcting misinformation is written off as mansplaining
tfw when idiots on tumblr who know jack shit about thermo assume the dude is ‘correcting misinformation’ when actually he’s dead ass wrong. ‘Spontaneous’ is a scientific term – it means a reaction with a negative Gibb’s free energy, i.e. a reaction that will occur without an external energy input, i.e. water boiling because of low atmospheric pressure. Spontaneous is absolutely the correct term for what she’s observing, and that is ‘simple thermo’, and this is ‘correcting misinformation’.
